Laptop Batteries
Hey, I'm gonna buy a new battery for my laptop, because mine goes flat after 2-3 minutes of use . A friend suggested buying a lithium ion battery. They're kinda pricey though. Is buying one worth it in the long run?

No properly functioning laptop battery would last 2 to 3 minutes, you have a defective battery...talk to your manufacturer...
Also might need to flash your laptop's charger firmware, again, talk to the manufacturer.
What brand is it?
As for NiMH vs LiIon, LiIon is pretty much standard these days. How much more is LIon over NiMH?

depending on the age of the laptop you will probably find that the manufacturer won't touch it as far as a warranty goes because they are counted as consumables
personally i would get NiMH because they work best under high drain devices, but be careful if you get one of these so called "smart" batteries 'cos you are only meant to charge these when they ARE DEAD otherwise the battery wont charge fully ever again.
Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

yeah i think that mine is aswell, but for example my mini disc player with LiON lasts about 1, but on NiMH lasts 6 hours, so it does make a difference
