like he said, you will not beable to read the email if they don't type it in. you can't get if from outlook or there address book. you can't get it sitting down and you can't get it standing up, you also can't get it eating green eggs and ham. sorry
the only way to get it is if they typed it in a form field. and pushed submit.

There is something called a vcard in Internet Explorer (see MSDN for more info) which can get the email address if they have their security settings set to allow this and if they have bothered to fill in their profile in the first place.
I would suspect that this would only apply to a distinct minority of people though.

this presents a big security issue. think of the spam people would get if everytime someone went to a site they would have their email taken.

If the user wants to be contacted by you, he'd be willing to type in his email address. Otherwise, don't be an ass and try to find ways to take it without him giving it.

Why should we change our language just to satisfy the small-minded PC minority? Where gender is unspecified, the correct grammatical form is to use the masculine. Anyone who has a problem with that is really rather pathetic.

I'd say 'the end user' or 'the client' because theres always one person who starts an argument about using he'd or she'd. So I learned my leason and I just avoid it now...

PC people suck. They should all die. I have a mailman and a paperboy. The fireman saved my house from burning down and the policeman arrested my daddy after he shot my mom.
A woman's job is to be in the kitchen and to satisfy her man. Fat people are fat and short people are short.
You can go to hell with your PC bullcrap.

I would also like steak for dinner.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.

Apart from this I agree with everything you said, PC is getting out-of-hand, and I dont disagree with this because of being PC (because I'm not), just because I think I woman can do more than work in the Kitchen. My G/F is a Theology Major and my mother works as a Chartered Surveyor and makes a fortune... Not all woman belong in the Kitchen

I wasn't serious about the woman thing. Just thought I'd throw it in there and see what kind of controversy I'd create. Didn't work well.
In all honesty, my girlfriend dominates over me and would whip me if she knew I said that.

I didn't think you were being serious but I though just incase you were I'd stick up for the Female of the Species
But PC is a bit rediculous. Where I work we have a team whose sole job is to pack letters so we call them letter packers (a clever name ) but we are not allowed to call them that anymore, they are called 'distribution co-ordinator'. Now thats stupid.

I was at a restaurant not too long ago and I called over the waiter. He looked at me and shock and said "Excuse me, I'm not a waiter! I'm a server!"
Me being the computer buff that I am, started making a few dumb jokes like "well then, how much information can you hold? what kind of connecton do you have?" He was rather confused. But that's what you get for being stupid.
