    it's, its, its'

    What exactly is the difference between these three?

    is its' even correct grammar?

    " its' " isn't ever going to be correct as far as I can see, unless "its" is a proper name and it's a possessive apostrophe.

    " it's " is correct as a contraction of "it is" but not where the apostrophe is possessive. In that case it's just the same as "his" or "her" or "their" - no apostrophe, just " its ", the word in itself is possessive.

    We do that all the time in welsh. If something ends with a vowel, and the next words starts with a vowel, then we put in a '

    EG Mae yn would be mae'n.
