I think I need a new cooler
Now that its spring and the temp in my room is warmer. My CPU temp is 47C. I think my fan is a POS. How hard would it be to remove the old on and put a new one on? And could you recommend one?

I knew the day would come
The problem is that you probably have a cooler that is all-aluminum. There's copper-base coolers and all-copper coolers...I find a copper base cooler the best if you're running a pretty normal fan. Aluminum dissipates heat better than copper but doesn't conduct it as much. So you basically have the best of both worlds....
On the other hand if your using a loud Delta fan, it is so powerful it can immediately dissipate the heat and gives you better temps.
That's why you don't see, for example, 47db fans with alumium coolers or 23cfm fans with SK6es.
http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/Merc...y_Code=0005.60
This would be the route to go if you want low noise and low temps and high OCing it uses an 80mm afn and 80mm fans push more air with less noise than 60mm fans...
So just pick out an 80mm fan with that and go.
If that's too much money for you tell me and I'll see what else I can find..

Could you find something as good on NCIX.com. Cause I want to get some ram, and I'll get both at the same time.

List of Canadian PC part resellers (and some British ones too)
18cfm on a CPU fan IS pretty weak. Look for anything from 23 to 27cfm should bring your temps down a bit...not anything that low but at least not 47C idle.

Soltek 75DRV-4 is incompatible with the AX7...hence he's kinda locked into the 60mm sinks
Do you know how loud a 36cfm 60mm fan would be

A lot of people can handle the noise, don't ask me how...
I think personally if you've got a kickass rig you should be able to use it without scaring the pets away and shouting to talk to your parents. Low temps are good but you've gone too far if it affects your lifestyle.

I used to have that one (Actually still do..in the closet )
It's really best for use with a higher CFM fan, but I guess you could get away with a 30cfm fan.
It's an excellent copper cooler, probably one of the best 60mm coolers out there.
I'd really just opt for a 27cfm fan on the heatsink you have now and see how it goes.

This one is pretty good
35dba...not too bad.
And BTW, your hope for an 80mm fan on your CPU isn't over yet, I'm going to check out if you can use the 60 to 80mm adapters on your JMC cooler thing...
Let me find out more about that now...

Well I can't say your cooler is the best thing out there but it'd probably be in the low 40s? Just a speculation.
Also adding more case fans is a good idea too.

That's a decent one. Swiftech MCXC370 is good too but a bit out of your price range.

If it is Designed for these applications:
AMD DURON s462/A
AMD Athlon 1.5Ghz+
AMD Palamino MP
Intel P3 1.13Ghz+
Why will AMD XP work?

Palomino = XP
Using logic rather than ratings, with a 27cfm fan and a copper-base cooler, I don't see why you wouldn't get good temps.
