    Angry Boot Virus on NT??

    Hey Everyone
do you know if it's possible for an old boot virus to infect a windows NT4 system? My virus software told me that it found a parity.B infection.
It is a real old boot virus that used to be pretty common in Germany. It is known since 1992.
do you think it's possible for it to infect a nt4 system or do you know where I can find out?

And if so can you tell me how to disinfect a bootvirus under NT?

Your software probably can't remove it. I think the newest version of Symantec (Norton) can do it. Boot virus live in the stack space set aside in the boot program - 256 bytes usually.
They were common in the DOS era.

Also, a lot of virus software programs have an option to create an emergency disk. You can fix the problem from there. If not try:

Boot with your windows emergency boot disk, then try running your virus software against C:\.

one thing i really really like about XP is the recovery console, all you do is boot off the CD enter the recovery console and type fixmbr, that replaces the Master Boot Record, it is also usefull for getting the linux bootloader off your system, only works on XP though, i think, maybe, idunno
