    Hewlett Packard Sucks!

Hey, I'm building an outdoor MP3 center for the summer. I'm using an old 486 w/ Windows 95. I pulled the old double speed cdrom drive and put in my Hp Cd writer plus drive. I don't want to use it for burning, just as a cdrom drive since it reads at like 24X or something. Anyway, I plugged it in to the 486, and it won't even recognize the drive. I don't care about the cdrw driver. I just want to use it as a cd rom drive. Oh, and HP wants $10 for an installation CD. F#%$K them! That's not including shipping! What a bunch of crap. Anyway, all I really want to set the drive up for is so I can install the MP3 software I made for the 486 off of a cdrw and copy files to the 486 from the cdrw. Any suggestions on this rediculous matter are appreciated.

Probably the best printers for the average user.

very true. We've had an HP Laserjet 4+ for years and it just keeps on going. Must have printed a a few million pages by now. The page counter only goes up to 999,999 and it's gone round the counter a few times.

We've got a 5L, and the only problem with had with it was because the paper feed separators got worn, simple enough to fix by ordering replacement parts and fitting them, working perfectly again now

No idea how long we've had it, bloody ages.

My sis has an HP desktop and the powersupply fan went out. She had me come over and fix it so I brought a powersupply with me, which didnt fit (too big for the HP's case). So I called HP to order a powersupply that fit and they said we were out of luck, they didnt make it anymore and to buy a new computer. So I took the fan out of the new powersupply and put it into the burnt out one and it still works fine today.

HP makes good printers. The rest of their products are pure proprietary **** that needs to be burned.

HP Computers Blow goats. I had a hp pavillion with a PIII 500 processor. I bought it and a voodoo 5 the same day. I took them both home excited as hell to do some gaming. The *** **** ****ing piece of **** sucking **** licking power supply couldnt put out enough juice to power my video card. The case was too tight to put a bigger on in too. aggggghhhh. Avoid HP's like the plauge. Their printers do rock though.

I came across an HP Pentium 2 once with a 77 (seventy-seven) watt power supply. I'm not joking.

The funny part was, I took my voodo 5 to work since it was obsolete a week after I bought it (Dam you 3dfx) and stuck in an old low end PII IBM Aptiva and it has been working beautifully since. HP Comps are junk I refuse to buy another prebuilt system. Oh yea I forgot, the speakers they gave me blew out in a week too. (polk audio, I think).

Well, HP is not that bad...

I've had no problems with my system. HP Pavillion with a 750 Athlon and 128 RAM. Works good. Blows the old Compaq I had away! I ordered direct from HP and the speakers that came with my computer were actually good Polk Audios. However, I now have the Klipsch v.2-400 surround setup w/ subwoofer! HP tower is a P.O.S. Took 30 min to install a new hd. You can't get the damn case open. Also scrapped the HP CD Writer Plus for a TDK 32 X CDRW. Lets see, all included software sucked. I'm now running Win XP from a clean install. Only thing that is still truly HP is my monitor, printer, scanner. I will never buy a prebuilt system again though. I don't like being limited to what I can do with my system. System Recovery disk stuff blows. Wastes HD space. Oh yeah, and my DVD drive is now a cdrom drive since I did a clean install of Win XP. Any software that comes with a prebuilt system is lost if you install a clean version of windows. If anyone has an "Educational" copy of Windvd or any DVD software that has the DVD filters and codecs included, please contact me. I need the filters.
