Well telling you how to do it in DirectX could take a long time. I recommend you download "Microsoft SDK DirectX7". The package is very big though, around 130MB. But it’s well worth downloading. There is a large help file that will talk you through using DirectSound, which is what you should use to make an equalizer. You can download the SDK from the Microsoft web site.
