    I'm not currently a player, but friends of mine have suggested it to me before. I'm considering joining. What's it like?

    Thumbs up Planetarion

    Its a planetary strategy game. You are given a planet to manage, you mine your planets core and asteriods to accumulate resources. Then you spend the resources on ships of various types and construction of newer technologies. The asteriods become what everyone fights for as the more you have, the more powerful your planet becomes. You play against ~30,000 other players spread across the universe, broken down into clusters and galaxies.

    There is a LOT more to the game, Im just giving you a super high-level overview.

    Have to warn you though, its very addictive!
