    WinXP and Games?

Is WinXP any better with games than Win2k? I hear it is. Also, how does it compare with Win98 as far as games are concerned?

    Win98

Win98 will run many more older games than xp. They say this compatability mode thingy is great, but it won't work with lots of games.
One reason is screen res. XP prefers higher res-es and locks out things like 640x480, which a lot of games use.

I'd use Win98 over XP to run older games any day....
But, if all your games are new, use XP.

If you are strictly playing games (eg. you don't care about compatibility, a good file system, and more ways to customize your computer) then you'll want Win98 SE, or WinXP. 2k tends to have higher latency accessing the graphics.

The framerate difference between XP and 2K in games is negligible, pretty much. XP has some game compatibility issues fixed but 98se and ME are still the best OSes for older games.

Most newer games run on XP/2K anyway so I'd exchange a couple of lost frames per second for the rock-solid stability of these OSes (notably 2K)
    I'm bringing geeky back...

I've had a couple which wouldn't work for me on XP, it's slightly better than 2000, but if it's only games you want then you can't beat windows 98.

Rubbish, you've just got caught on the MS bandwagon that you have to upgrade!

95 yes was buggy, but revision C is pretty good. 98 is the best for games - better than 2000 or xp & is meant for home use (doesn't have all the extra security or ntfs system to get in your way).

I'll agree that there's nothing good that can be said about windows ME though
