I don't think VB has got anything to do with it. You could always make a program that removes them automatically at startup

Let me assure you, this has really nothing to do with VB!

Well, I didn't mean your thread, but the problem you have mentioned. I have been using VB for the past 2 years or so, and (Well, let's be honest!) had to use Ctrl+Alt+Del quite a lot of times. I never saw the 'WinOldApp' that you mentioned.
Hope you find a solution soon, and remember to back up your data. From your post it looks as if you use Ctrl+Alt+Del to shut down instead of Start > Shutdown.

Check your startup folder, see what is being automatically started when you start up your pc. Also what version of winX do you have? I assume not NT, but 95? 98? and what ship release? 1, 2?
