Why don't you just buy one?
Apparently, you can get PowerDVD for just $4.00, plus shipping, on NewEgg.

Because I would have paid for DirectDVD 4.0 ES but it didn't work. Nor does ULead so I'm not convinced.
Also shipping would be about $20 from the states and take about a month

Just downloaded the trial version and it works but its $49.95 for the cheapest version which seems a bit steep for a 'driver'

I just checked out the system requirements for DirectDVD. I find it intesting that they seem to have forgotten to mention that you need to have a DVD drive..
Anyhow, I use PowerDVD 3.0 with no problems on Win2K, if that means anything. Try running the trial version of PowerDVD if you just want to see if it works:

Note that the trial version is severely limited. The only thing it is actually useful for is making sure it works. Then, if it does work, you can try finding someone who sells it from your country.

I'm sure you can find a cheaper price for it somewhere else. What country do you live in?

I've bitten the bullet and am downloading 4.0 now. The trial version worked fine. Seems to work for multiple regions too which is what I need. I'm intending to use it on XP so 4.0 is probably what I need. Thanks

Two different systems so far. One an Athlon 1200 512MB RAM running under Windows 2K the other a Fresh installation of XP, same memory, Duron 700. I don't want to try any other machines as I don't want to destabilise too many systems.
