where can you download the runtimes in order for users to run
MFC apps?

Just give them MFC42.DLL or whatever version 
If you use InstallShield then there are Merge Modules available to do this.

well the whole idea is that i didn't want to **** a bulky install if i
didn't have to.
There has to be some redistributable file with the runtimes in it.
