I didn't mean it like that! I meant I hate microsoft for installing a load of junk on my computer, Win XP for messing up my project, I've gotta recode it all, and the deadline is friday I couldn't get win xp for a student's fee
so, now you see why I hate MS?

...whats fox pro?...
It's a hobby followed by a small but fanatical number of people, but soon they will find they have to give it up for lack of support and viability.
Or is that fox-hunting?
Come to think of it, it's both of them!

You do know that if you do a CUSTOM install of Visual Studio, you can take out things you don't want installed. MS has given you a way to do it, so don't hate them for that. Also, I haven't had a problem with Win XP for any of my apps. If you have to recode your apps for Win XP, your doing something wrong. Check the system font size on XP if it is screwing up your forms.

When I installed Win XP, it turned half of my controls to picture boxes, and deleted all my code.

When a control turns to a picture box, it usually means that a custom control is missing. VB substitutes the nearest thing it can find - usually a picture box.
Presumably 'deleted all my code' means complete missing files, not just bits of code here and there.
This suggests that the actual problem is missing files.
A Win XP install should not delete any files.
It this by any chance (ahem..) not an original copy of XP? There are a few pirate copies knocking with virus inclusion.
