    That is a great price....

I'm still going to hold off till they get the speed to 10X....

Let me know if my math is wrong. This HP burner is 2.5X and the DVD disk are 3 hours. So it should take around an hour to burn one DVD....??????

    I wouldn't buy a DVD-RW or a DVD+RW now for 2 reasons:
    - too slow
    - too expensive
    - they still haven't settled on a standard...it's HP's DVD+RW vs. Pioneer's DVD-RW

I still remember when generic 1x or 2x CDRW drives were going for $500...
    I'm bringing geeky back...

    Heh

Well a 2.5x DVD burner burns more KB per second than a 2.5x CDRW. Since it is burning at 2.5x the speed needed to play a movie, which requires a faster read speed than something does to play audio.

BTW, you really need to take that poor burner out of that damn USB enclosure...its probably pretty easy to do either that or get a Liteon 24x for $85 at Newegg....

only $85? I think it would be in my best intrest to buy a new one.

Probably won't be able to for a while though because i just spent all my cash on that jornada. I split the cost with my parents, so they aren't gonna be wanting to give me any extra cash either.

But, at least i can use the jornada as an mp3 player

But then again it costs you $0 to get a screwdriver, pop open that case, and stick the drive in your computer (at least for now)

BTW...don't waste any money on a 32x or a 40x burner...since any burner above 16x doesn't burn at that speed core to edge it's only a few seconds faster. The Plextor 40x is only about 40 sedconds faster than my Liteon 24x.

    Enjoy that Jornada...
