IRQ interrupt problem am thinking
Sometimes pop a CD into the drive and the whole PC freezes....thinking something like an IRQ conflict problem...any ideas?

or video drivers as it needs to refresh and it freezes. also can be that auotrun is flaky, try disabling it.

Thanks Dude, you might be on to something with the auto run. Doesn't always work....

Disabling Autorun is hiding a problem, not fixing it.
If you go to the Device manager and Double Click (or Right Click) on Computer (at the top of the Device List), you will see what device is assigned to each interrupt. There are a lot of allowable duplicates, but I do not have any further advice about how to analyze for conflicts.
You might try Windows Help. I have a vague memory of some way to get Windows to tell you about potential conflicts.
If you have not already done so, you should make sure that there are no Questions Marks or Exclamation Points shown by Device manager, indicating a problem.
Check the properties window for the CD Reader.

You can also go through Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager to get diagnostics on various parts of your system. All looks fine (generally would show a yellow icon thingy if problem)...
That all looks fine since removing a certain hard disk....
