    Angry Intel Just Plain Sucks!

Man, I will NEVER buy one of their products again! Just got my new full version of Win XP installed and working today. After about an hour, I resolved all those fun Driver issues! My printer, scanner, and Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold Joystick work just fine. My problem is with the damn Intel Wireless Gamepad! For the gamepad and the basestation, it cost like $70, but at the time I had the money and really needed a good game pad for my PC. I loved it and it worked great under Win 98. And then once upon a time I installed Win XP! I figured I needed updated drivers, so I searched the Intel Webpage. Apparently they're not making enough money off of their Wireless Series Peripherals, so they have discontinued them all! They did have some BETA versions of Win XP drivers for the series, but they are only useful if you upgraded from win 98 or ME. Since I did a clean install, I can't use them. I tried to reinstall the software and it won't even install because it says I have an incompatible version of windows. I installed the software on the family computer, and tried to copy it to my system, but still got no results. On the intel site it says that they won't be realeasing any new software for the wireless series, so basically if you own any of the series you're F*%Ked. Some customer service! You would think that INTEL would try to stay compatible with MICROSOFT! Anyway, I guess I'll have to unload it on ebay now and take the loss. To bad, it's a really great controller. Just a warning to everyone else out there, don't buy INTEL..................................

    Yeah but......

How am I supposed to install the software that came with the wireless stuff? It won't run the setup program because I don't have a compatible version of windows.

In Windows 2000 there is a "compatibility layer" that lets you emulate windows 98/95/NT4 while running a program. That may be in XP, so if you can try that, do so!
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.

In XP I've found that it does basically absolutely nothing though, running something in compatibility mode has never solved any of my problems

    download hte application compatabilty toolkit

then use the program "qfixapp" on the exe for the setup..and choose "report windows98"...whenever the program tries to detect the version using the api, the qfixapp will report the fake version to it..

ive used it on countless things, works great

im trying to find the download link, gimme a few
