Win XP full or upgrade?
they're about the same price on e-bay and I'm running win 98. Isn't a full install better? I've always had problems with upgrades before, like Win Me . It really messed up my system so I put 98 back on.

Go for the full version...better to be safe than sorry! OR leave XP alone!

The same price? You sure about that?
Make sure it's not XP Pro upgrade vs. XP Home full edition, as they are the same price retail.

Im not sure about XP, but back in Win9x, the "Upgrade" CDs had all the files of the "full" version except that they would check for the existance of a previous version of windows (which was wuite simple to get around ).
You just proved that sig advertisements work.

it is pretty easy to make your XP CD bootable, such features are cleartype, integrated burning (i like it for CD-RW's), Hibernate, an improved start menu, skinnability, stability (although 2000 is just as stable), and many more which i can't think of now. although win2k is still a good operating sytem a few reasons make me like XP better

how is it childish? if you dont like the new themes, turn them off. i think its a good change from same old 2k look.
and doesnt upgrade have everything for full, but it just checks to see if you have a copy of 98/2k?

I use XP on a kitchen web surfing laptop. Mostly for the multi-user thing (it's perfect for that type of environment).
I gave XP to my mom since she'd be the kind of person who would use it, and my dad got XP and he loves it.
I guess we're all different.

childish like it was made for a 2 year old. I dont mind the themes, its the extremely slow searchs, the pop-up where ever u put in CD. The way it hides the Program files and Windows files. Etc. After alot of tweaking you could probably make it better

Perhaps n00b-ized is a better term for it.
Some people call it 2000 with training wheels. Which is true. And I think these do need to be put in place. The NT kernel is very powerful and an inexperienced user could, for example, lock themselves out of their important documents.

By default there are training wheels on XP, the theme looks like something out of a 2 year olds colouring book, the ballons; likewise, it hides your program files, and does things automatically for a CD you just put in, if you just put it in you probably know what you want to do with it. However all those can be disabled and beneath that you have a very nice OS

well ive shut off that cd popup thingy, i like the integrated cd-rw support.
i dont need multi-user support, so ive shut that off
but im using it for...
the themes
better gaming support than 2k

cleartype!

XP professional seems to be targeted
at the "Bussiness user"so they say.
A lot of the added features
i can do without such as file encryption
and multiuser sessions.

Any company would have to be on crack to upgrade from 2000 Pro to XP Pro. XP Pro is just to show "hey, Windows XP stands for BOTH home and business"
NT4 to XP Pro, maybe, but not 2k to XP Pro, since it's basically the same thing.

the bottom line is: if you have 2000 stick with it, in my opinion though XP is still better 2000 will do you fine, though there arent quite as many features. it you have ANYTHING else, upgrade.

XP is the best version. I tried Win 2000, but XP is better:
*ClearType
*Much better Internet Connection Sharing
*Works with older programs better than 2000
Get the OEM version of XP. It'll cost the same as the upgrade, but it's full. You don't get MS support, but I had a MS mouse and the support was horrible.

I didn't even use the keygen, i am just really interested in the algorithm behind it, i think microsoft did a great job at discouraging illegal use in XP, knowing thier algorithm isn't illegal. I am jsut interested in it
