    VB6 and VB.net simultaneously

    I am a VB6 programmer considering trying out Visual Studio.net. I cannot seem to find an answer to the following question.

    Can I install Visual Studio.net and Visual Studio 6 on the same PC, or will .net overwrite my VS6 installation? If I can, are there any issues I should be aware of?

    I installed VS.NET on a separate drive on the same machine, and it doesn't seem to have caused any problems at all.

    I installed it on the same drive with no problems, although beta 1 doesn't work with XP

    the files goes in two dirrefent folders, Microsoft Visual Studio (for vb6) and Microsoft Visual Studio.NET so there will be no overwriting

    Here is my question: what about the files that get installed, by default, in the system directory? Will they (.NET) conflict with VB6?

    ok NOTHING will get changed. I've installed .Net and VS6 with NO PROBLEMS so far. so you don't need to worry. that is, unless you've chosen to install in the VS6 directory......

    Ok, BuggyProgrammer, so you are going to guarentee that as long as I don't install .NET in the same folder as I've installed VS6, I will have no problems!

    And, if I do, I can come to you to fix them? You are willing to take that step?

    just keep clicking next at the install process it will work.......

    If your that worried about it, don't install it. Use it on a different machine.

    $hit happens, ya know. No one can guarentee you that you will have a flawless install. I haven't heard from anyone that it causes problems, but there are always unknown variables that might exist on your system that doesn't exist on everyone elses. Good luck, and take the risk...live a little.
