Other computer being the old one right?

Well that card is pretty low end, about equivalent to a TNT2 or a Voodoo3.

OK well just get any old card, a TNT2 or something

If you can get your hands on an ATI card, get one, as they aren't bad for DVD playback, if this thing has a DVD player

The Radeon 7000 is PCI, just telling you

The 7200 I think would be better, although it's discontinued now and not many people have it, so I'm not awfully sure

Is there a possibility you can just get a Radeon 7500 for your main PC and put your 7000 in your old PC? You're going to want an upgrade anyway. And the 7500 would blow away the 7000

It's not a mistake, but the 7000 is a slow chip

And unlike most DDR video cards, it uses 64 bit DDR as opposed to 128 bit DDR. which basically puts us back where we started

Have you considered my idea about buying a good card now for your Soltek rig? Because you're going to want one anyway and there's no point having 3 video cards.

OK then whatever floats your boat. You can probably always take out a loan from your parents

But yeah the MX200 should be fine.

Yep, you can get that for your XP and put the 7000 in your P3

It's marginally better than GeForce2 Ti and GeForce4 MX440 (which are equivalent in performance). It doesn't have pixel/vertex shaders like the GeForce3 series but oh well.

You might see the high 5000s in 3dmark.

3DRealms has a motto "framerate is life" so at least they won't be using those for a while.

OEM means you don't get the pretty box and the warranty.

The Radeon 8500 OEM cards are actually clocked lower than the retail editions, haven't heard of a similar phenomena with the 7500 though.

OEM stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer", and means exactly what Justin said it does

I have an ATi Xpert 2000 Pro 32MB, which although not particularly high end, is cheap and reliable, and performs reasonably well even on new games like SS:TSE and C&C Renegade.

Go with what Digital suggested if you can, my brother got one for a little under $100.00 at Tiger Direct, 128 mb version. Works fine for every game we play, and Id say most intense game we have is either Halo PC or BF1942.

    I got mine for ~90.

They resell currently for ~60 USD. Pretty good(with AGP gart, very good) aslong as you don't run any hardcore DX9 games.
