Has anyone heard of this? Im taking a programming camp for 2 weeks (8 am - 6pm) and Im finishing up basic, and next week Im moving to C++. I haven't seen anything here on truebasic (what we are using), so does anyone know of it?

This camp wouldnt happen to be ACE Computer Camp would it?
I taught there as a teacher for 4 weeks, at the NC State site. I even still have all the textbooks and compilers they use on CD somewhere.

Exactly It! Im doing one in NJ though. Its really fun there. Next week will be my 3rd alltogether.

I have gotten a few students that were only going to be there for maybe a week or more, and they wanted to hop right into C++, unfortunatly my camp directory told me I had to make sure he passed the TruBasic Curiculim, turbasic in my mind is pointless if you know the concepts, of programming, check out the prices they are charging for TruBasic when the camp is near ending, it'll be somehting like 150$ for the version that can compile into an Exe (TrueBasic Silver) this is definitly not worth it, and I hated their compiler they used for teaching C++, they used I think it was CodeWriter, I didnt like it much at all, for those students who wanted to continue learning, I kept a site with some basic stuff, its been a while since I have even updated it, http://kb244.8m.com

you can find some C++ books, I'd probally post the ACE Computer camp text books, if it wernt for the disclosure aggreement, they even said themselves the ciriculm isnt that great for a programming, tho their internet guide would be noteworthy, One of my students use bitmaps to put into TruBasic, and have the mouse shoot and get points, he kind of made a Teacher/Counslor shoot em up hehe.

so what kind of infomation would you like to know, if you want to know if furthering into Trubasic is benefit, well unless you are complete beginner, totally to programming, its a complete waste, I would get into Visual Basic, or hop on over to C++, of course in the end it all depends on what you need the the language to do, TruBasic is pretty fun for the most part, as it is intended for a learning tool, but the company that made it, if you can grab TruBasic gold, it has a bunch of stuff like internet connectivity, and some C++ implementation, but I think they're overpriced for what they are (check my site I have it, hehe, you'll need a password tho)

Good luck, and have fun, btw what game tournaments they got going this year?, we used to have huge StarCraft and Mech Warrior Tournaments.

I've been in VB for 2 years now, but I have to finish trubasic before I can go onto C++. Thanks for the link. Your right, truebasic really does suck. And I think the C++ compiler is Codewarrior.

btw. The starcraft tournament was monday, and the regionals today (they had an internet game with 2 other camps, we woN!)

I was just curious if anyone had heard of truebasic, I had never heard of it before.

Where can I get the ace textbooks? Are those the booklets they give us? Ours are in .pdf format this year (i guess it saves on paper) so Im just going to save the C++ ones to my disk and take them home.

I have those textbooks you're talking about in PDf, btw trubasic, funny thing is that I have messed with the dos version about 2 years before teaching there, so some of the programs I've written with it, were rather fun at the time, but it really wansnt going anywhere for me, email me if you have any problems with the site. (where I seen TruBasic before, was at the highschool on one of the older computers that had Borland Turbo C++ 4.5 for windows 3.1 installed on it)
