I asked that a while ago, but I'm not sure if the site still works. You can try it though: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...ownload+qbasic
BTW, it is not like VB in many ways so it could take some getting used to. It is still a relatively easy language though.

No Competition!!!!
PowerBasic (http://www.powerbasic.com) Most of the people I knew here who were really good all dissappeared and ended up there. I made the change and haven't touched VB in a year and won't touch .NET
Small code, fast code, pointer, threads, unions, standalone exe'e (real ones, not Qbasic pcode ones) and win32 dlls
I assume that people still use VB because a) they don't know about PBDLL6 or B) they're beginners

There isn't one unfortunately
There is one of their dos compiler in the files section of support but there isn't one of the PB/DLL which is the windows compiler. You can join the forum and ask and there is a lot of data to read through but you sort of need to make your decision from that. The thing that did it for me was reading through the forum on what other people were doing with it for commercial apps etc.
Still it doesn't cost much so it's not much of a risk anyway, the people on the furum there are always hpaay to help you even if you haven't bought it yet.
If you talk to them and let them know your programming needs they'll tell you straight whether they think PB is for you or not.
Cheers

Jethro,
I don't hang out here, I get an email every time this thread is added to and I see what's changed.
I own a copy of dark basic too but I don't use it very much.

Ti calculator BASIC
Even though it is rather slow, Ti calculator BAsic is a good way to write programs on a portable keyboard.

Nope, VB DOS doesn't use runtimes. It compiles stand-alone
Aww screw it. I didn't really want to fool with it anymore anyhow.
