Difference between Jews and Christians?

This is not a religous thread first of all! I am just trying to know the historical difference between Jews and Christians.

What idea I have is from movies on christ , ben hur etc. - i thot jews are originally from the middle east? like the saudi states? or israel?

and what really is the difference between protestants and catholics? both read the bible , i suppose?

also , is there friction between these groups? y did hitler want to kill jews?

If you feel this thread is a religous one, btw, please don't post to it and help it go down the thread list and eventually disappear.

so what DO they think then?

there has to be another differernce?
like who told them this? and why did they chose to beleive one way rather than the other? books the two read? other beliefs?

well, the christians are jews that believe in jesus... when jesus was born some jewish said that he isn't the son of god, some jewish said that he is the son of god, those that believed he was the son of god are now called christians... some other differences:

chrstian holy day is sunday, jewish is saturday
christian place of worship is called chruch, jewis is synagogue (sp?)

Just to expand on what he said, the Christians beleive that Jesus was their "messiah", but the Jews don't, and are still waiting for their "messiah".

if jews don't believe jesus is son of God, then do they worship him? if not, then whom do they worship? or do they not have any figure at all?

Catholics beleve mostly in the virgin mary and was the main religion in Europe, Protestants (protested) against the catholic faith and followed there own. (christ)

Jews and Christians are from two different religions (same thing as Muslims and Christians...). I can't remember what you call the prophet of Jews in English but it's called called "Musa" in Arabic and Jesus is called "Isa" in Arabic. So Jews have their own believes, attitudes, prophet, etc.

The Protestant religion is named after the protest of many people involved in the church around the early 1500s. One of the main guys to start it off was a German named Martin Luther. The protest was about corruption in the catholic church. Basically a big divergence of opinion in the way the church was run happened, and the Protestant Reformation happened because of it. It had a lot to do with the protestants objecting to the church selling 'indulgences' - basically selling God's forgiveness.

If you look it up on the internet you're bound to find everything you could ever want to know about it.

Jewish faith views Jesus as another prophet but not the son of god, christian sects view Jesus as son of god...Jewish faith are still waiting on the messiah, christians are waiting on the second coming of Jesus....

Hmmm...sort of Christians are waiting the return of an aging rock act tour, jews are waiting for the next hot music trend. Of course Muslim's are pissing themselves laughing about this....sort of Mohammed was god thing.....

Even Buddhists recognise Jesus' existence. I think they believe Jesus was the last person to reach Enlightenment before Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha)

As far as I understand it from my limited research, Christians eat small children and Jews sell them to slave traders.

Is that the same Luther that began the Lutheran Church, and translated the bible into German?

while i am laughing at the moment (unrelated) id just like to clarify muslims DONT believe the prophet muhammad (peace and blessings of allah be on him) was god. we believe he was a prophet just like the others, but his message was complete and refined. thus there have been no further prophets since
