    3 pin power led connector from the case, 2 pins on the mobo

    Hey, it's been a while since A+ so don't laugh, but I ordered me a new mobo and processor and case . . . The case power led connector has three slots for pins with + nothing - , while the mobo has only two pins for the power led, + -. I decided to take a look at another pc that I ordered prebuilt and it was exactly the same setup and what they did was cut the three pin connector from the case in half to set the + with the + and the - with the -.

    Is this really necessary, can I get away with connecting just the +, and refresh my memory as to why this discrepancy exists.

    Did you just hook the positive with the positive?

    * nice black case, 320W power supply, USB in front

    * ECS K7S5A - no overclocking, but stable as hell (used by many OEMs)

    * Athlon Thunderbird 1.33 GHz, 266 FSB

    * 256 MB DDR

    * Radeon 7500 DDR

    * Acer CDRW, 24x 10x 40x

    Cool 7/10

    I have a very strong vendetta against ECS, but overall looks good!

    ECS boards have strange layouts for case headers. Don't worry about it.

    Funny thing is, all I wanted was a new video card. I saw the Radeon 7500 DDR for $77 on Price Watch, ordered it, put it in my old Athlon SLOT A 700 (overclocked to 767), and that MSI Pro7 mobo just couldn't hang.

    So I just had to find a home for my new video card . . .

    (Ah justification, sweet justification.)

    Well, mehears the pin layout on the case for the case headers like power switch, LEDs, etc, is slightly different, and it may have problems with certian cases

    Looks like you are one of the victims

    I just plugged the positive to the positive and let the negative hang in the breeze and it's running fine.
