    Hello!
I'm thinking of making a program for playing a card game, and I need som ideas.
It's meant to be for about four persons, and I'm not sure How I'm going to make it so no-one can see the other cards.
Does any of you have an idea?
Is there anyopne out there who has made a card game?
If so, please post and telle me about it.
All help and hints are appreciated!

Is this game going to be played on the came box or it is going to be using winsock? If it's over diff machines then it would be asy to just show certain card to certain users...but if it's on the same box then i would suggest somekind of waiting systems that allows ppl to change turns but that wouldn't be very fun so i would suggest having it work over a LAN or net and "bind" cards so each user only seems his own.

Well, yes, at first I was thinking of making it on one computer, but I realize that it would make it quite boring. Besides, if you are together, why not use real cards?
So how do you make a game you can play over a LAN (or maybe Internet? Is there a big difference in the technique?)
I would like it so that you can be from two to eight players, but if it's difficult it's enough with four and only four players.
How do you exchange value on varilables, events etc. over a network?
Please post your points of view.

Thumbs up Just out of interest

Are you planning a graphically representation of the cards, if so there is an ocx control to handle this. Have it on the hard disk of this PC, if you want it can email it to you. Probably not helpful.........

As I wrote, I haven't really thought it over so much, the idear just came up.
Please mail me the ocx, I'm sure I can use it.

    Exclamation Try this.

why not create a two or four player game for use on one machine to start with. You may be jumping in at the deep end by trying to create a networked multiplayer card game to start with!

BTW, why not use the Cards.dll API in your game, im sure this would be better than using a custom .ocx... Do a search on Cards32.dll for more info...

    Wink Here ya go...

Cards.Dll is a dll that contains functions for drawing cards. It is used by windows in it's card games, such as solitaire etc. You can use these functions in your VB program to draw cards for your card game.

What i meant by do a search was for you to search this forum for posts and further information on calling these functions from cards32.dll

    Hope this helps
