I was just wondering how you all learned vb. I learned it by a book: Mastering Visual Basic 6 by Evangelos Petroutsos.
Thanks.

Taught Myself All The Way
I went from pure coding know nothing not even html or basic and dived right into Visual Basic 5.0 ...I taught myself with a few of my friends knowing VB pretty well and I mooching off of them for help every two seconds I soon came to realize I needed a book or two or three or four as it came out in the end lol. I never did finish each book from front to end but looked at it when I needed help with something. I never took a single class on Visual Basic and I dont think that their is a reason to take one. But as for now I would be proud to say im Beyond Intermediate but who am I to say where I stand. I fit my own needs and sometimes I dont. I run into alot of problems mostly not coding problems but lack of reference or information on how to implement a certain thing.

I taught myself. Started out with vb3.0..downloaded it off a website and than started from there. Took me a year to learn..for one year, I didn't even start because I had no clue as to what to do. I went to sleep one night, woke up, and new more than I should've then. I currently use vb4.0 and vb5.0. And there you go...there's my life ..just kidding ;].

I'm self taught as well. I started out using Qbasic which got me my experience in BASIC programming. Then I moved on to Visual Basic. It was difficult to switch from DOS to Windows OOP. I never read a single book on programming; all I had was the Help Files and my previous experience, but I think things turned out pretty good in the end.
You learn better when you do things yourself - not what the books say to do.

I knew C++ before I learned VB. After first year of C++ I got my VB compiler and taught myself. Then In school I took VB class and since we were ahead of the class me and group of friends got to work independently. It was really fun and thank god the rest of them were there. We all helped each other debug our programs MANY times. It's always good to have a fresh look at your program.

I started doing AppleSoft BASIC on Apple IIe (1978 vintage) and IIGS's... then moved to QBASIC on the PC, and then moved to VB 2.0, which I followed along with until VB 6.
