I'm looking for a little advice. I have a links checker that currently uses an MS Access database to store a variety of information reported from a webpage. However, right now, the program is only currently checking 8000 links, but the database is about 205 MB in size. At the current rate of growth, my links checker program will soon be checking 3 x the current number of links, and I shutter to think what that would do to the database's size. So, my question. What other types of database formats are available, and are they work trying.

    Thanks

First off, you may want to compact the access database to free up space from deleted records.

Whenever I work with a lot of records, I use SQL server, but it is really expensive for the average user to buy.

    Hope this helps

You can always download MSDE from http://www.microsoft.com

It's basically a smaller version of SQL Server, and best of all it's free.

To give you an idea of how expensive SQL is, with unlimited clients it's around $30,000.
