    Red face

Where's that Dohh! icon when you need it ? I should have posted something here and didn't and now I'm confused.

Anyway, people are complaining about the lameness of some of the posts on the site. Which is fair enough. My gripe is that I see the same question posted by a newbie every few days. Can't this be sorted out by having a page with links to threads that answer the most commonly asked questions ? When someone registers tell them about this page and ask them to read it. Some of the subjects which should be covered are :

Sending the enter key/sending Alt+Key to app.
    Killing a process
    SQL formatting
How to use CHR$ and ASC to cut down code

Anyboby else think this is a good idea ... or not. Any suggestions for the most asked topics ?

    Paul,

I couldn't agree with you more. When someone signs up they should be shown a list of FAQ, and links to the answers. I would also like to see them informed about the search utility. Does anybody except me use it?

While it is annoying to us to see the same post over and over, you have to take into consideration that these people may have been stuck on this for a while, so they may be equally frustrated.

We also do not want to stagnate the forum, by having no new posts what-so-ever. This is my greatest fear.

I also think they should be told about VB-Code to format the style of their posts, and how to use the smilies.

    Regards.
Iain, thats with an i by the way!

    Unhappy oops...

Sorry, didn't mean that to sound like I was newbie bashing. I just thought it would get people who haven't done much VB off to a good start and show them some of the basic techniques before they move on to more advanced stuff. I don't think it would stagnate the forums, far from it, it should lead to more interesting questions.

I agree about the search thing, I was told about it today for the first time and I've been here a month. In fact there are lots of interesting bits on this site which could be mentioned in an 'Intro' letter.

John, James ? any chance of an intro e-mail to people who register ?

Thumbs up I Agree with both of you

I use the search as much as any thing in htis forum.

I would suggest an advanced search for it though.
every time I use it, it pulls up mounds and mounds
of post. There needs to be some way to narrow it down.

    What do you guys think?
