For high school, Maple 7 or Mathematica?
Ok, so maybe this is mega-overkill for high school, but should i get Maple 7 or Mathematica or something else when I'm too lazy to do a ton of algebra?
I want something that calculates and graphs well and can do algebra step by step (CAS like)

Step by Step ??
I think none of the mentioned Apps can do that.
Wait !!! you want to cheat....don't want to do your home work on your own ??
If you have either of them, try them why not. It doesn't matter which one to select if it's for algebra and plotting graphs.

you select a term, or part of a term, and it offers ways to rearrange/rewrite/simplify that.

Mathematica is an incredible application. I use MathCad7, which is great, but Mathematica is supposed to be better, I would use it if I could afford it.

something that i've been doing on the side is writing my own. I teach at a local university and i'm designing - in vb - a taylored program that does exactly what you're talking about. If you are ambitious, you may want to try the same thing.
