you can get the framework for free from msdn.microsoft.com

You need a msdn subscription to download Visual Studio .NET

    cd

I actually ordered the CD from the microsoft site for 12.95. I think it was a pretty good idea because I got all the CDs just incase I format HDD or I put it on another computer or something. I don't know, usually I wouldn't pay, but this time I think that getting VS.NET legally was a good idea.

    seriously

are they going to pull a macromedia on me and have it cease to function? that would really suck. So, either I have to find a crack for it, or i have to buy the real vesion? Because I am running the beta, and I would like to continue to use it... what is a solution, cander?

the beta has nothing to prevent you from using..only the release candidates did...But also take into consideration that something compiled using beta 2 wont run on final as it would have to be compiled on the final framework.

    plan

so what is the plan, I have to download the new framework? or do I have to download everything, like all the studio. I hope its just the framework. Is there a way to order that offline for the cheap fee, or do I have to download it with an MSDN subscription (which I dont have)?

Yes the framework SDK is free from microsoft. Visual Studio is not required to do anything at all. Notepad works fine as the compilers come with the SDK.

Starting Feb 13th you can buy VS .NET, but its not cheap. If you are a student you can probably get it cheaper.

    Guys,
    Thats some useful info.... thanks...
I think i'll be back here more often to clear my (coding) doubts. I am into a project that should revamp an existing site from ASP to ASP.NET
We are reusing old MTS components... no change in code for the component bit... jus the ASP.

Let me know if u have any comments...

    thanks,
    Jemima.
