Hi!!
Well I am tired of putting up this Question at N number of user groups, forums etc. Finally I come here and ask member over here.
I require this info ASAP cause I am working on a security program. My question is : -
I want to HIDE certain folders on my HDD. The point is that it should not be done using the ATTRIBUTE setting of the folder's properties. Infact the ATTRIBUTE setting should have no effect on the folder. If the folder is hidden by my program, then it should be un-hidden by my program only. I know this is possible cause I know of a software called Magic that does just this.
If anyone has any answers or suggestion please do post them ASAP.
Thanx

Very Dangerous !
The kinda of Hiding done my software like magicfolders is
very risky, they alter the file allocation table entry of
the folder and the files in it by marking them as free But
keep the original data intact. If u happen to use older dos programs or chkdsk you may loose all your data. Beware.

Thank u Mr.Kumaraguru for the warning. I appreciate it!!
I was about to try and do something with the FAT itself, but through C instead of VB. Thank u for alerting me about the chkdsk thing.
Could also please tell me if there is any other way of doing this or throw some light on how your program does it.?
