Help me make a StarCraft Patch

Ok Please help,
I need help making a starcraft shareware patch~ Im actually really new at this I DON'T KNO SHIAT. I want to make a protoss patch. If you want to help and be part of the making of 1 of the first protoss patches out there please w/b. Im goin to need maps, graphics, and if you help out the most you will be the executive programmer in the credits. Thanks, and PLEASE HELP!

Why don't you search for a StarCraft patch. There are a lot of them around. VB isn't really the best thing to make patches.

Ok i kno that VB is fine for making patches for starcraft because i kno the maker of a patch and he made it w/ VB many times so it is fine for making it

for patching this game, you will have to learn a lot about cracking.
man, all of the data is stored in the big (66MB !) MPQ file.
man...i have read an interview with some1 that cracked the game to have it working with no CD, lower minerals request for buildings and so.
his name is ShadowRunner, and as you know (or not) he is one of the leading persons for cracking games.
and he said that cracking StarCraft was so hard, and the MPQ file was encrypted and compressed so effectivly, that after he finally cracked the game, he went to the store and bought the game!!! just for giving respent and acomplement for the encrypting team in Blizzard.

So, dont be so sure it is so easy.
Especially if you are a newbie with the cracking section.

I don't think VB is the best language to do any serious cracking in either. It might work, but you have a much better chance using C++ or Assembly.

Thank you for agreeing with me Megatron. Patches can be done in VB, but it's not the best. C++ can do much more than VB can within files. And if you want some cracking tools, I will email you the link to a good crack site that helps, or should help.

even in this forum..

As a former cracker myself (Now I am completely reformed.)
I'll tell you size never matters in cracking. What matters
is how effectively the author conceals his protection even if it is only a few kilo bytes long.

I have cracked a program( I don't want to name it for
obvious reasons and it's not a game...) that is 80MB
in all. But the author's protection was very poor that
i cracked it in 2 minutes. Thanks to softice...the miracle
maker... It was cool.


Now I think cracking is a waste of productive time..
Better think of developing something than reuin someone's
fortune..
