Airline toilet seats are pretty small
Cabin crews are generally on the look-out for passengers who remain locked in plane toilets, in case they are smoking or engaging in other forbidden activities.

It is rare for a passenger to remain in a toilet against his or her will.

Is this for real? Could this be a hoax?
I can remnember other strange stories that got into the news due to practical jokers.
A really long time ago somebody made up a college called Painfield Teachers and reported footbal scores to the New York Times every Saturday night. After 6 weeks, people began talking about this undefeated (& unscored upon) team with a Chinese triple threat half back. All the =scores were reported as 45-0, 56-0, et cetera.
Another cute one. A rich practical joker paid for a billboard advertising some dippy organization that was campaigning for laws requiring animals to wear diapers or pants. The ads calimed that it was offensive for nude horses, cows, dogs, cats, zoo animals to be seen. after paying for the billboard, he called the lcal newspaper with a story about some wealthy eccentric willing millions to the dippy organization. Some wire services picked this one up and carried it for a while.

The BBC do tend to check their sources very thoroughly before comitting it.

I seem to remember seeing horses on the island of Zakynthos all wearing diapers so maybe he retired there

I don't know about you but I find I have to continually run a three-language translator in my head (brit-oz-yank) on these forums so that I can at least be vaguely understood - or not too grossly misunderstood -
(e.g. you try calling a Texan a silly bugger face-to-face and see what happens )

Well I always talk proper English, if anyone gets stuck on a word, myself or others will more than likely explain (like they have in the past)

It's generally regarded as a very mild - even friendly - word over here, though. I think it's taken a bit more seriously in the US.
