Wipe WinME and install Win2000 Pro ?

Just wondering... on my P-III 650 laptop, should I wipe WinME off it (which is crap), and install Win2k Pro instead ?

This laptop is my baby, and I do all development, music playing, game playing etc. on it...

is it networked at all ??, if it isn't then you are best off just leaving it alone, but if you want to use it on a network, then make the move to 2k, ME is a pile of crap when it comes to working sucessfully on a network

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

yeah you will find that the route of the crashing is actually down to the networking, when i came to uni, everyones computer was running Me and it didn't like the network at all, always crashed and stuff, you unplug it from the network and get rid of all of the network stuff you will see that it works alright, so everyone is on 2k or XP now, so i think that you should move to 2k and you will see how much more stable it is

Oh yeah and if you delete a folder, and then empty the recycle bin it crashes it. Screen doesnt seem to get refreshed sometimes... uhn a myriad of bugs.

Anyway, I'll make a backup of my 3 gigs of stuff I wanna keep, wipe the drive, and install win2kpro

It doesn't matter whether your computer is networked or if it's never even been hooked up to the internet. Win2K will work better than WinME.

zmerlinz, why do you feel that the upgrade to Win2K is only worthwhile if the computer connects to a network?? Win2K has so many more advantages over WinME than just network-replated things.

The only problem with Win2K is that it might have some problems with certain games.

it is that Me crashes a lot less when it is not connected to a network, and everytime Me has crashed on all of my computers, and i needed to re-install it, the main problems were always down to the network, that is why no other reason, i know that 2k is much better.
