I haven't used the package and deployment wizard before, but this time I decided to try it. When I did, I received the message, "You have included mdac_typ.exe in your installation package. If you will be installing this package on a Windows 95/98 system, it will require DCOM98 to install properly."

Do I really need DCOM98? What does it do? I tried using the Help button to open the sample from the DCOM98 folder but got the message that a help (.chm) file was missing. Do I really need this .exe if I am designing an app for stand-alone PC's?

If I don't need it, how do I eliminate it? I unchecked the mdac_typ.exe checkbox, but the DCOM98 message still showed up at the end of the packaging process.

If I do need it, what do I do to add it? It appears to be on my system. I ran the install from my MSDN VS 6.0 CD1 and got the message that a newer version had already been installed.

Also, will my users then see the same message I did asking them if they want to install this program?

Thanks for any help (references to appropriate articles, quick tips, etc.) on how to prepare programs for distribution.
