Hard Disk File Recovery
How do you retrieve the files or list of files to either view or undelete on hard disks? This info is apparently so well guarded that I cannot for the life of me find it. It is just a personal quest. Nothing more, nothing less. Thanks.

Undeleting files strongly depends on your file system.
for FAT16, you might try an old DOS undelete program.
on FAT32 that may also work. On Linux it's also possible (though harder) to undelete file chains.
I don't know about NTFS.
Any write action on your hard drive may already have overwritten the file data (partially).
For these hopeless situations, Microsoft once introduced the recycle bin. It works fine, as long as you don't shut it off or empty it one time too often.

Are you asking how to program such an application? Or where to find one? If you're looking for one, then I would suggest looking at: www.recover98.com
