hi Midgets
am just posting comments as i read ur article so forgive if disjointed...

1. First game comp = Vic 20? Prior to Vic 20 were ZX 80 (maybe even 81), BBC had something out, i even think the Atari was before the vic 20.. not sure.

2. You say Vic 20 was expensive... I dont remember it being very expensive at all. In fact it was much cheaper than anything around at the same time eg TRaSh 80... Peripherals were expensive but all memory etc was so back then

3. First big change from floppies... the stages I remember were a) key them in from back of mag! b) Cassettes c/d) Floppies / Cartridges ala Commodore 64 then e) CD Rom...

4. Early computers ZX80, Vic 20 etc were marketed as being useful to store recipes etc ... strange fact

5. Floppy disk wasnt just better for speed of loading. A major benefit was being able to see what was on the disk without having to find it sequentially.. ie listening for the distinctive noises that signalled the start and end of each new file.

6. You say early games were made in Basic... not really... even then it was too slow.. most commercial ones were made in Assembly

Sorry I can't comment much on the current state of gaming technology.

The draft is quite good only 2 little things i would say are to 1) watch out for a few sweeping generalisations and 2) sometimes u switch subject within a paragraph without the first point being developed enough.

But all in all I think it is a good job... well done & best of luck
