    in chat program....

    hi,
    i want to know the datatype of the data sent from the client or server....i.e if a string is sent from a server to a client, the client should know the datatype...how to find it without declaring a variable as string and using "winsock.getdata variable"...can anybody tell me how to find datatype returned from the server...

    you can't really get the data type it's just a variant
