    Unhappy

well, as some of you may know, over here in USA its summer time, no school...
soo, I was thinking "I am gonna be awfully bored this summer, unless I can think of a project to work on"

a visual basic project, of course.
well, I have this project for my friend, its to figure out chemical formula's and such, but after trying to write the constants for all 114 elements of the periodic table, I kind of fell asleep.
so that one is on hold for a while,
but all of the other projects I am working on are either too easy or too time consuming,
I want something that will take me about a month.

can somebody please help me come up with an idea, I am positive this question has been asked at least 3 times, but I am really out of ideas

    Thank You VERY Much,

Well this is my summer project, and it has taken me about a month so far (almost working!).

Try to build a communications system. I mean capture sound from a microphone, send it to another computer and play it back there in realtime. Do this for two way communication. I guess just a pc phone really.

    Just an idea.

    Wink How about..........

You got all those guns right. How about writing an app that details taking them apart and cleaning them etc. Like you could include photos of the individual parts, how they fit together, what cleaning agents to use etc.

Just got a project like this. Except it's for cars. The client wants to be able to call up any part that goes into the car, and get details as to specifications, supplier, alternative supplier etc. So far have done the radiator..which is pretty cool to look at....actually it's quite boring, once the photo and details got looking good it lost any appeal...one radiator looks pretty much the same as the next.

Oh boy, l may do the trans coil tonite.

    Anyway just a thought...........

Instead of working on a project, you can try to experiment with different types of controls that you have never touched before or you can try to learn more about controls that you do know about.

You can also research some of non-popular VB Functions like PPmt for example. There are probably a lot of things that you can learn by just browsing through the Help File.

    -Have a good summer.

    thanks jethro,
but, I have about 160 guns in all, and it would get damn boring doing that.

hmmm, I have used just about every control that came with visual basic, well not really used, but I have experimented with it, I will try looking up some of the more useless functions...
hmmmm... 2 pots of coffee, and 24 hours should get me through the whole Vb section of msdn,
I will still need more suggestions

    thanks.

    Unhappy I feel your pain

My school got out last wednesday. Im making web programs. Chat programs, browsers, online games. Then Im gonna combine them all into one big program. I always get a kick when my program connects to another computer, Its just cool that I know how to do that. Learn DirectX.

    On the DirectX thing

Visual Basic Programmers Journal issue July 2000 have a start off on this subject with project download from their site.

Steve do you think MS will encapsulate DirectX into a control for vb in version 7, (personally l think they should as vb misses big time with inline animation objects)?

I think they will. There is so much demand for stuff like that. (Just Hope!)
