Unhappy Report based on user input!VB6 and Data report designer

Hello, I"ve been trying to produce a report within the data report designer in vb 6 based on user input with no luck(passing the user input from the form to the report). The user enters in a number and then a report is produced from 3 tables (access 2k tables) How do i pass the user input to produce a report. I haven't been able to find any examples of a report being produced based on user input. Does anyone have an example or maybe a link I could look at.

    Thanks Kindly..

    hi

One way is to store only the report information to a separate table and run the report from that. You can then use user input to filter the required data first before creating the the report. this woiuld probably involve Sql statement in code to open the required recordset, or if the tables are pretty simple you can use a query to copy the data into the output table. This way also has the added advantage that you can export only the report data.

If your reports based on a datacontrol, then use the user input to complete the SQL for the datasource. Then requery the datacontrol before opening the report.
