    Starting Visual Studio.NET ... couple of q

    Hi all,
I'v never installed Visual Studio.NET, before I do so, I need to know the following.

What version should I be looking for (.NET ver. that is)?

What Os should I use (currently win2k)?

Do I need a stand alone PC, or can VB6 and VS.NET coexist without problems on the same computer?

anything else u could think of that I should consider when starting to play with Visual Studio .NET for the first time.

You should be able to find RC1 pretty easily. That version is working well for me.

Although I am running VS.net with VB6, I would recommend putting VS.NET on its own partition (just to be safe).

If you've got Win2k that will work fine. XP is even better, but you don't need to buy it if you don't already own it.

Also, you will most likely need a DVD rom for the installation, and maybe access to the internet from the new partition. Otherwise, everything went pretty smoothly with the installation.

    Thanks Scott

I can only get my hands on Beta 1 at the moment.
I have the newest at the office, but I won't be back there until 7 days... now.. I'm eager after installing it, so I was wondering if its any use, or if I'd be better off waiting.

    any views on that ?

    thanks

You're going to have more problems installing and uninstalling beta1. If you are installing on a partition you don't mind destroying later, feel free to install beta1. But chances are you will have to format the partition and reinstall windows to get RC1 up and running later.

I think you will probably spare yourself some pain and suffering

So, you should be able to enjoy your .net experience this weekend!

Have fun! I think it's really cool
