A new form of piracy ??

I happened to visit this forum

    http://www.woltlab.de/en/forum/main.php
Which is run by Woltab Burning Board (WBB)

It's an exact replica of vbulletin but it is free.
I am sure, they wouldn't have worked from scratch to make these pages resemble vBulletin. They could have just copied the vBulletin Files and sprinkled in some changes.
If this is the case, would it be a new form of piracy ?

Hmm. It does look very like vBulletin.

Have you mentioned it to John?

    BTW, I didn't, {till I searched}
    Jpbtennisman doesn't.
    apparently Parksie Doesn't.
See http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...threadid=36790 for Jpbtennisman & Parksie.

And ThinkTank2 probably didn't, unless this whole thread started as a joke. Didn't see this smilie though.

You propably didn't see it, but it was obvious that I didn't when I posted:

    Hehh,
    Is Their John Our John?
So, Just flogging a dead horse, not everybody knew.
But, Thanks for your, err, a little too late info.

It's common knowledge amongst the regulars. If tennisman didn't know, why did he make a post in Forum Feedback as well a vBulletin?

makes perfect sense. If they were not the same John, what possible reason would there be to alert the VBF John to that fact vBulletin was being copied?

    this is getting CONFUSING!!!!

But the point was jpbtennisman didn't know, which means
everyone didn't, which goes against what you said when you
    said "everybody knows that. "{that JohnVBW was their John}

tennisman did know, which is why he posted in Forum Feedback because he knew it was the same John as the one at vBulletin.

And when I said "everyone", I didn't literally mean everyone.

Ok. Lets say jpbtennisman knew that.

So, you're saying its neccessary to inform John at BOTH Sites, that the SECOND site He's at is pirated from his own software?

    See, I'm really confused here.

As Steve said, John is more likely to notice the post if it is made twice. Why do you think some people post the same question in many forums?

Like I said before, if they were not the same person, what would be the point of informing someone who didn't have anything to do with vBulletin?

    The site I mentioned
    http://www.woltlab.de/en/forum/main.php

does not run "vBulletin" forum software.
It runs something called "Woltlab burning board"
which we supsect is a pirated version of vBulletin.

There are plenty of pirated versions of vBulliten ( I had one; I never used it; i was just interested in how it worked) out there. How this is different from the real vBulliten would be interesting to know. Anyone have a file comparor?

    HAHAHA!
Now I see. When jp posted http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...&threadid=36790, I thought he had joined the woltlab site, and had pointed out their piracy. I followed that link, looked around, found John, and thought he belonged to the woltlab site.

    Sorry. But thanks!
    I'm not confused anymore!!!
    YippEEEE!!!!

In "Edit Post", they have an "Edit Post" button.
    No "Cancel"

In "User Profile", when you add a custom avatar, Once you've added an avatar, and "Save Changes", you're back at the Add avatar screen, with the "Save Changes" and "Delete" buttons. No "Cancel".

Only two places I've checked so far.

They've got two extra smilies though!
And there Smilies text code is Different.
    and 90x90 Avatars!!!!
Lets do that here, get some sound working when you click an Avatar, heh, we'll show 'em!!!

I've got vB 2.0.3 somewhere so I'll get that out and have a quick look through the woltlab code as well...
