Why using DX & VB if you can use DarkBasic?
    (Just a question...)

please explain. I've seen darkbasic, but it seemed far too simplistic.

I tried it once, said HEY!, this looks pretty good.

Then I noticed there were no lights and you can't make use of Transform and Lighting.

DarkBasic crashed on every system i tried it on. Besides, it gives you far less freedom then C++ (or VB) and DX.

OK, Darkbasic sucks. I also read on the site that we have to pay some licenses too.
    Long live VB, not?

The speed increase is very little if any, and object-oriented programming is a must nowadays

So I would say no, I don't think C is an option anymore except for speed junkie functions (eg. graphics routines)

C++ add a little extra overhead, but OOP and such outweights the cons.
