Hey - For all of you guys planning on getting PDAs and Pocket PCs, or for those of you who already have them, Im in need of a little help.

Thanks!

Dude, Palm OS couldn't beat the crap out of Pocket PC on its best day...
I would opt for a Palm-based organizer, and Palm is much more expandable, but stop smoking crack dude...
BTW, Sony's MP3 player uses Memory sticks which are
1) Proprietary
2) can only be copied to 3 times

Well, that is somewhat true, any unlicensed music can only be copied to the stick 3 times before you have to buy a new memory stick. That's what the Music Clip operated on and that's why it sucked so bad.
"Licensed" music, AKA POS demos and ****, can be copied as many times as u want.

Let me write you a program that will change the headers of all your MP3s to have non copyright and original checked
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.

I can only copy 3 copyrighted songs? Dammit...
Oh well, is there an easy way to remove that copyright stuff or anything - As you can tell I have no knowledge on this subject.
Also, how can anything tell if its licensed?
Anyway...thx

Yep I can do that, it'll go right along with the MP3 Decoding Library I was writing. I'll just write it to the file, and no harm done

Dude!
Yo Sastraxi I dont need that program to remove copyright protection on the Memory Stick.
As long as you dont use that trap known as MagicGate Technology, and use the normal, purple memory sticks, it is fine.
You can copy whatever you want, as much as you want - no restrictions at all.
DAMN! You had me scared for a minute there!
Adios!

Your Clie sucks compared to all the crap my PPC can do...full fledged web browser...file system..full color games..and i bet cheaper than your Clie...$199 for my PPC, that's what black and white Clies go for.
oh yeah did i mention great battery life?

Speaking of my 320x320 65,000 color screen and my built in MP3 player with remote, oops - right...the topic at hand...
Battery Life:
a) Casio EM500 - 7/10 Hours
b) Sony Clie PEG-N760C - 2 Weeks
What were you saying again?
Stats according to a) Casio Website & b) 2002 Mobile Technology Sourcebook
BTW - Why is battery life such a huge factor for you?
Both have full color games
Pcket PC has the Clie on the browser part but...
Both have the normal file system everyone knows so...
What have you got left man???

I have a MMC slot, you've got to buy more expensive and proprietary memory sticks.
No, since most Palm OS games aren't in color, there are only a handful that are in color. Almost all PPCs are in color, therefore most if not all games are in color. Hell, you can even play Quake on a PPC
Palm OS does not have a normal file system, my dad has a Palm IIIxe, i've seen it
Video player? Voice recorder? Pocket Word? Pocket Excel? MS Money, Pocket Streets, Microsoft Reader? Didn't think so.
What about playing short WAV clips (it's easy to h4x0r it) for a wake up alarm? PPC has it, Palm does not...
Oops, forgot to mention. On Pricewatch, the lowest priced Mp3 playing CLIE is $368. Mine was $199. So not only did I get way more features than you, but had i bought this myself I would have paid less.

Games: Ive got plenty of games, both in color and in black in white. Soon, Grand Theft Auto for Palm OS is coming out, I just got finished with some Serious Sam - similar to a Quake/Wolf 3D, and I just played a FULL version game of Sim City.
I have no problem using memory Sticks, seeing as they are compatible with other Sony devices I have like a Digital 8 Handycam
MS Money - Nope (WHAT A LOSS!) But Ive got a load of financial sotware that I have, and can get for free
Pocket Word - Got it
Pocket Excel - Got it
Pocket Streets & city directories - Got em in FULL detail with more info on my home town then I could ever have known
Microsoft Reader - You know i got it
Video player - Got it (Man - Did you even look at Clie stats!?!)
With BugMe software and/or other - MP3s can be used as alarms
Just look at the huge archives of free palm software across the net!
Now Im going to go back to watching some nice fine music videos and listening to my MP3s - you have to go and get your separate Archos, which is SWEET by the way. BTW - I got tons of versatile software like using my Clie as a remote on my TV/DVD/Furby/Etc... (OmniRemote for all those who know).
Man - before you get in the ring to argue - make sure you know your stats.

Oh really? So why do I have Windows Media Player with a full fledged Mp3 player in it? eh?
Mine came with a free 32MB memory card, you've got to buy even more stuff to add to the $400 price tag..
Why don't YOU learn YOUR stats.

OK, so they exist, but again, that's dishing out more money.
You've dished out $400 for the Clie, probably $50 on the memory stick, and you'd have to dish out, well i'm not sure of the price, but i bet it isn't too cheap, on Documents To Go, and you stilll haven't matched up with my PPC yet which is $200 at Costco.

HEHE, that's funny, third party software to sync with Outlook. I didn't even have to do so much as press a button for mine to sync with Outlook flawlessly.
Try harder.

Here we are again...
Ok..so we are back to money - but if we are looking at quality - the Clie's gotcha - you have to see it by now! Dont tell me BS about try harder - we are talking quality - as in "The Best PDA/Pocket PC"
Anyway - i dont think either of us is going to change our minds because Im convinced that my Clie can beat the sh*t out of your Pocket PC, and you think the exact opposite - so this is obviously going nowhere.
Ok - If you really want to you can come back with some stats and ill shoot them down again or comeback with something else and we can play this game into the wee hours of the night - or - you can stick with your opinion and ill stick with my fact. Let me know what you think.
BTW - Palm Desktop 4.0.1 has built in setting for sync with Outlook and several other e-mail clients.

Quality is not an issue here, because neither of us have anything to back up our statements about quality. I can tell you about my endless nightmares with my Sony notebook, but I won't.
If your Clie was $199 with Documents to go and a 32MB memory stick I still wouldn't touch it.
Palm OS sucks, why do you think their stock is at like $2 now?

Mine is fact. I have applications INCLUDED. I have more features. I have less proprietary interfaces. Mine is seamlessly integrated with MS Office. I dont' have to buy a ton of third-party software to sync with Outlook or read word documents.
I have an MP3 player, a 320x320 color screen just as you do, even a potential Palm emulator in case I do want to run some of the POS applications you run on your Palm.
And to put the icing on the cake, I paid much much less.
Face it. Pocket PC wins over Palm.
I'm going to bed now, so don't expect any replies from me until tomorrow-- my priorities at 12:15 at night are not to carry on a pointless and obvious debate with a Palm fanboy who realized he paid too much.

Well, quality IS an issue, but we know nothing about whether your Sony is more quality made or my casio is more quality made, so we can't argue about that.
No, but it sure shows that the world is moving to Pocket PC.

Maybe it's all personal preference. Perhaps you like the Palm OS more. Perhaps I like the Pocket PC OS more. Because, for the life of me, I can't comprehend why you like yours better. But that's you
I always end a silly debate with this-- they are both great.
