    Hi,

    Can anyone tell me a good book for APIs?? All I do at the moment is go to vbapi.com. I found a book lying around

    "windows programmers reference"......

    was wondering if there's any other?

    The best one I've found is Dan Appleman's Visual Basic
    Programmer's Guide to the Win32API

    There is another one not geared towards VB developers but that has all the info you could ever want on the API called Windows Programmers API Bible or something like that. It has a red cover and is about as thick as a Buick.

    I too have the Appleman book and it is a good reference but not easy to learn from. There is a great book by O'Rielly called VB programmers guide to the win32 API which is great. It doesn't explain lot's of different API functions like the Appleman book but it's easier to read and get information about how things work from.

    I bought the appleman book first, I think I should have bought the other first and the appleman book after I'd learned a bit more.

    I've haven't purchase the Dan Appleman Win32 API reference. But I bought the Visual Basic 6 Win32 API Tutorial from the Wrox Publish by Jason Bock. Anyway, it good and easy to understand. I was learn how to write my first encryption/decryption program from this book.

    One of Appleman's books:

    Dan Appleman's Win32 API Puzzle Book and Tutorial for Visual Basic Programmers

    is a pretty good place to start (although I must say, I've never been disappointed with an O'reilly book and would accept one nearly sight unseen)
