What's the importance of computers?

I have asked about this before but did not get any good link. I need to find an article that describes the importance of computers in our society. The article should be written after October 2000. I have searched Yahoo but if it find some articles related to computers, they are outdated. I don't know why people haven't written that kind of simple article that just describes why computers are used in our society.

Because I need to find an article that somebody else wrote, and then I need to write about half page long summary of that article.
