    quoting time:

    regarding Plan 9

...this movie was so bad, it was actually quite entertaining, and therefore I cannot in good conscience label it "the worst movie of all time." ...

    Thumbs up The Matrix

I don't think there was anything wrong with the martial arts/action element of the Matrix.

Indeed, one of the things that made it such a great movie was the way it appealed to people on many difference levels. Not everyone would enjoy exploring all the philisophical and sociological concepts that the film explored and not everyone appreciates the action element but by having both, it bridged so many audience types that it became a true classic.

Perhaps, it could be said, some of the character building and philisophical exploration was neglected in favour of more action scenes but I suppose that was down to commercial pressures. Perhaps the next movie won't have such pressures.

Thumbs down Basic concept was disappointing

There should be a similar movie which actually puts realism out of the picture.

I didn't personally think the philosophy of the question, "what if it's all an illusion?" was that intriguing. It's something I think everyone has considered at some point.

The best part of the film to me was the 'chop socky' martial arts scenes - and the lobby scene of course

Maybe the idea behind the film could be explored further. Maybe if it was done well, it would explain what the heck Kedaman is always talking about

That was only the most obvious philisophical notion touched upon. There were many others.

For instance, when Marcelus was captured and was being questioned by the agent, there were a variety of issues touched upon:
    • Is it innevitable in the nature of the human race that we will always expand to consume all natural resources by which time our only chance of continued survival is to move on to another habitat?
    • The agent descibed the first matrix that the robots created (a painless utopia) was rejected by the enslaved humans (i.e. they would not accept/believe it). Is this because we cannot live in a world free of suffering and strife or because our notion of heaven cannot be described mechanistically

There were more but those are the ones that spring to mind.

Furry muff I suppose Simon. I guess that kind of thing could be made into a decent film. In the meantime I'll watch the chop socky stuff

It was a great movie, and it came across as intended: A Live Action Anime.

They could've gotten someone better than Keanu. But as the saying goes...

To be a good actor, surround yourself with great ones. The rest of the cast carries Keanu like a wounded soldier though the movie.

I liked the "Whatever you want, Mr. Reagan." line.

If only I had a friend named Garibaldi.

Just don't start calling yourself Neo.

Sometime I would like to sit down and count the number of times Neo says, "God", or the like and Trinity answers. The religious innuendoes are enough to put J4U into shock.
