Unhappy What's with the go slow?

It is starting to grate haveing to wait so long to see my posting / edit. Sometimes I have enough time to make coffee before a page loads

What size / type of server are you useing exactly, perhaps it is time to upgrade

BTW how come some postings are a screen and a half wide? that really bugs me.

The forum itself is great the atmosphear is very friendly and helpfull.
It's just showing it's age. As a web site disgn bod I'd say this site has maybe a year left in her, with a few tweaks I'd say more like four. A new better server add a three more to that but a make-over and redisign to handle greater volume will have to happen eventually.

I've read Bahemoths posts and I have an idea or three

owners: How about you appoint the most technicly minded regulers the rights to pook about and identify problems before submitting them to you.

also some specialist spell check might be nice in a future up grade.

    1. About the ultra-wide posts, somebody used the [code], [php], or [vbcode] tags but made a line really long and those tags use non-breaking spaces. Blame the poster.

    2. As for the server, he's running Red Hat and the server specs are fine, but rumor has it that VB Square, VB Forums, VB World, and vBulletin are all running on the same server. He's got a 160 gb/month transfer limit too so it's probably a bandwidth problem.

    Holy Shizimdo!!

Blooodi'ell mon its a wonder they work at all. Good greaf!

Might I recomend that some of those or this or sumit is found additional homes. The only place that's as bad as this for speed is useing ASP and hosting hundreds or poorly written little ASP / SQL sites.

    Flombledoodleiyop!

    Phew dude that is harsh.

BTW I really hate those bandwidth restrictions they're unfair and don't comply to the free-compleatly-free-net ideal.

I am not sure why the servers are running a little slow at the moment, but it is definitely not performance issues on the servers. They are serving up pages lightnening quick (all 250,000 of them each day), but I have a feeling the about.com/sprinks adverts Javascript is not loading up quite so fast.

Pop ups and pop-unders that collect the page from else where are well known for messing things up. Some instructions will be carried out while waiting other for no apparent reason are not.

I think it may be a HTTP v1.1 issue but I am a little hazy on such things.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my post.

PS BTW "*cough* VB Square style set* *cough*"??

In your user CP options change the style set option from VB World to VB Square and you'll kill the evil Sprinks and about.com.

It's better than the VBW style
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

Yep I know about the sig

I got carried away. I think it was all the waiting.

    I've trimmed it some what.

But for now other than the 2Meg line time I get the Go-slow continues
