When time has expired, have your program create a BAT file that

#1) deletes the main program
#2) tells the user that time is up

shell this BAT file when the user exits your program.

The bat file will have to be set to try and try again to delete the main program as it can take a sec or 2 to unlock.

Use that to check against.

Hmm. Thats not a bad idea, 'cept for people who don't have internet connections. If that were possible, that would be good, 'cause you could also 'register' the PC the software is on when it is first run, to prevent people re-downloading/re-unzipping the software to get another 30 days (which I do all the time... )

Shareware is annoying.

Make if free or cost money but dont give me a crazy trial that 50% of the time does not give me all features or 50% gives crapy documentation or 50% doesn't uninstall or 50% screws up my comp.

Can we be a little more hypocritical? If you don't like missing features/performance then pay for the Shareware, and get the full version.

Oh, and it's 'Mein'.
Rechner, or Computer for the German 'computer', I believe.
(Rechner, possibly from 'reckon' - as in billing/calculating. similar to the Indonesian 'rekoning' for 'bill/check')

Cut me some slack I was joking around.

I know that all those missing features are also missing in shareware and freeware and full version.

And I also know that a Trial is very helpful test to help whether to buy a product or not.

With today's program protection, you don't need to make your programs partially damaged

I use SoftLocx for my applications from Bit-Arts (www.bit-arts.com) and can provide full operability for any period of time, or expire by date, or by usage, etc.

The user gets full use for a set period of time, and cannot turn the clock back to fool it. When it expires, they need an unlock code to register/reactivate it.

You can even make the registered version require an unlock every so many weeks/months, etc.

Very flexible, and virtually un-reverse engineerable when protected in mutated mode.

I've used this product for a year now and am very happy with it.

I can't think of/program any software that needs to be protected, so I'm clear in that area.
