Not happy with Forum Feedback
I remember a time when James or John would respond to a post within forum feedback within about 48 hours of its posting. Often these posts were a "well done" and the admins would toddle along to collect their due praise. Occaisionally the posts were a request for features within vbulletin, in which case a suitable response would be administered, either, "yes, thats a good idea", or "no, that couldn't work because...", and sometimes even, "how about trying...".
The reason I bring this up is because recently (I assume since the introduction of the mods), we've heard virtually nothing from the admins. the only people that browse around FF to help others are general forum users. Not that this is bad, but the problems are not being solved. How do we draw attention to the issues in here? I'm being ignored. I've had a fairly serious problem with VBF recently, it still isn't fixed, and I'm considering stopping using the forums cos its such a pain in the arse to get on with. Please, could somebody with some authority respond in here.
I'm genuinely looking for feedback here.

Well ...
First of all, sorry for any disappointment it might have caused you, behemoth, to see another member responding.
I too have noticed that John has virtually stopped responding in Feedback. And the last of his posts were mostly to stop members chitchatting in this forum.
Also I think appointment of mods has nothing to do with JJ not responding in FF, also that JJ are probably busy with JelSoft and vBulletin development work.
Anyways, I do think you are right. JJ = FF.

I've even been tempted to report my own posts to an administrator to get some attention - It's not that I don't trust the mods to do the job, its just that they aren't doing. We need some feedback in here and we're not getting it!

The trouble is this forum gets filled up with some much petty crap (no names metioned) that I think they simply don't bother to look any more.
If you have a serious problem, I suggest you forget FF and contact John directly. According to Marty he will respond within a few days.

I couldn't help chuckle, report your own posts??
But then I understand the situation you are in. I guess we can do little about it right now.

I suppose I'm from the old school that thinks, "If I've not been invited to contact such-and-such a body, I'll not do." John doesn't make his email address to all and sundry (read: me), so I don't use it. Its just sad that this forum has gone down the toilet.
What do i do next?

I've noticed this too no moderators around either!
It's like they went "screw this i'm going home!" and they dont care about this place anymore!
To get attention simply post lots of swear words and obscene comments in every forum with a link back here.
Then a moderator will see it if not there will be heaps of complaints and someone will see it.
If not email John everyday and even email jelsoft!
I'll start:
JOHN YOUR FORUMS ARE GOING DOWN THE ****HOLE
If that dont work hack the boards!
That'll get some attention!

i'll add to those wise words from beacon:
John, your forums are really really really being neglected. People are getting very annoyed with it's poor performance and leaving. People are like sheep - a few move, the rest bite the bullet too

I know that being a Mod is no a pay job. But the only Mod ive seen in a while is martin liss. I think that we should scrap all of the mods and start with new ones. It's understandable since like i said it's not a pay job but why not make someone a mod that is on VB world all of the time? maybe Filbert, CrypticBlade or someone else.

Behemoth - what exactly is your problem?
My email address is there for people to use. If no one used email except when invited, this world would be very quiet...no spam...hmm, actually, this sounds like quite a good world But seriously, if you need me, email me, because I cannot keep an eye on these forums, because they get filled with so much rubbish.

Thanks for replying John.
Ok, I see where you're coming from. Notice that I wasn't apportioning blame, its just that well, as you said the forums get filled up with rubbish and to be frank that gets in the way of people feeding back.
I realise its a bit odd of me not to use peoples email addresses without invitation, but I think to do so would constitute an invasion of privacy, so I'll take this post as an invitation . Actually, I sent a message through one of the many feedback forms Chris posted links to, but I assumed that didn't get through to you when you didn't reply.
I just hate to see this place falling apart. It has been an addiction of mine for the past 12 months (on and off ), and I wish things were the way they were in the past. A number of suggestions have been made recently about the organisation of the forums, and perhaps the time has come to have a look at these.
I suppose administrating a huge forums like this is, in the main, a thankless task, which is a shame, but we can all pull together and make things work. Oh, and thanks...
My original rant was due to the fact that I had a technical problem using these forums (which is still causing me trouble, see http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...hreadid=119019 ), and never got a single reply from somebody that could do something about it.
Please don't neglect us...

I have huge pressures on my time, and I do try to stop in here as often as possible. Sorry about the abrupt put down on the volume of traffic here - you caught me at a bad moment when I chose to read this thread.
As for solutions to try and improve this place, James and I (owners) are looking into possibilities at the moment, because we do not really have the time any more. We will keep you posted as things develop.
Now for that techincal problem...

Don't worry about it. It's just nice to know you're still about. I'm glad the forums have been successful for you, its just a shame they've become too big for you to police efficiently on your own. I don't take offence easily, so the put down was like water off a ducks back to me.
I've responded concerning the technical issue (although I appear to have accidentally emailed you as well), and I hope this will ensure the problem is simpler to deal with in the future.
You've been doing a fantastic job in here (and James too) over the past couple of years, and I hope you continue to do so.
