    Port 5900

    Not sure if this is the right forum. Am new to all this, I have just started out with VB6 (I have a basic knowledge of VB5).
    Anyhow, here is my problem...

    I use a tool called VNC to work from ATT-research, my network has 100+ PCs attahced and remembering everyones IP address or PC hostname is a little too much. So as a project to help me learn VB6 I thought of designing a program which scans port 5900, which VNC opens for itself, and then create a list of users currently online with their IP address & PC hostname etc...

    Can anyone point me in the right direction to start?

    All of this is available to the windows shell, which you can access in VB.

    I would suggest you spend several hours looking at this site.
    It's set up in little bitty pieces, with very good examples, To make a decent project like you want you will have to check 8-10 different pages and get code samples from the site.
